About the Project
The Creative Communities Acceleration Program (CCAP) is a joint initiative of organizations from Belarus, Sweden, and Lithuania that supports Belarusian cultural professionals who keep on doing their work despite current limited opportunities for free artistic expression.
The program aims to develop cross-border connections and strengthen the role of art in promoting democratic values and freedom of expression. Its goal is to bring together Belarusian and Swedish artists in film, music, and theatre to create a space for collaboration, experience sharing, and joint creativity.
At the center of CCAP is the idea of using contemporary art and creativity to build intercultural dialogue and civic engagement. The program is going to help participants grow professionally, build long lasting networks, and support free artistic expression. Through joint projects and educational activities, participants will explore how art can promote democracy and develop their creative communities.
The program includes three seven-day residencies in Vilnius, where Belarusian and Swedish artists will work together to create new projects in film, music, and theatre spheres. The program will end with a study visit to Sweden for Belarusian participants, where they will meet local organizations and practices, and also an international meeting in Vilnius that will bring together professionals from Belarus, Sweden, and Lithuania to share experiences and plan future collaborations. Public screenings and online events will present participants’ creative works to a wider audience.
Alongside training, the program will help participants to create real cultural products such as music tracks, short films, and theatre performances and build long-term Belarusian–Swedish collaborations. Belarusian participants will gain new professional knowledge and learn how to build communities and promote cultural activism, becoming part of a sustainable network of creative leaders who support openness, cooperation, and artistic freedom.
